Home Work
At Ysgol Kingsland, we believe that learning continues beyond the classroom and does not start only when children arrive in the morning or finish when the bell rings in the afternoon. Following feedback from parents, we strongly believe that children need time to rest and engage in activities outside of school, and therefore we do not place a heavy emphasis on homework. Instead, we encourage parents and guardians to read with their children, support them with spelling and tables, and most importantly, provide meaningful experiences – such as going for a walk on the beach or in the woods. Despite this, we begin setting homework from Year 1 onwards, including spelling and other tasks that spark interest and sometimes encourage pupils to investigate questions at home. Spending quality time with children, talking with them, and showing interest in their school life is extremely important to us, and we hope that parents will enjoy reading regularly with their children while teachers provide suitable books, regularly updated from classroom libraries. We encourage every pupil to complete their homework to the best of their ability, ensuring valuable learning opportunities at home without overburdening them.
